5 products to remove oil stains from clothes

1. Dishwashing liquid

Clean oil stains from clothes with dish soap

First of all, one of the products that we have the most on hand that is very effective in removing stains from clothes is dish soap. This concentrated liquid detergent will be very effective if used from the start. However, we will avoid this solution if the garment is light in color, as it may stain the garment more.

How to do it ?

  • First, add a few drops of dish detergent to cover the stain. It would be best to do this right after the stain appears.
  • Then rub the stain with a little water and put the garment in the washing machine as usual.

2. Baking soda

Second, we offer a product with multiple uses, both at home and for health and beauty advice. Everyone should have a sachet of baking soda nearby, which can be used to make a facial scrub or odor-absorbing solution. In this case, it will help us remove bothersome oil stains.

How to do it ?

  • To start, moisten the stain with water.
  • Next, make a paste by mixing baking soda with a little water. Apply it in such a way that it completely covers the stain.
  • You can use a toothbrush to rub the stain and better penetrate the product.
  • Leave on for a few minutes and wash the garment as usual.

Additionally, we would like to point out that baking soda is a great natural fabric softener to help white clothes look cleaner and maintain better color. Finally, this product also helps to balance the pH of the washing water.

3. Talcum powder to remove oil stains

Third, we use another product that we have at home and for which we can offer different uses. This is the famous talcum powder that we usually use with our babies. However, it can also help us absorb oil stains on any type of clothing, regardless of fabric and color.

How to do it ?

  • To start, lay out the garment and apply talcum powder liberally to cover the oil stain well.
  • With this product, it will take at least 2 hours for it to absorb the oil, or even a whole day.
  • After this time, you must now brush the stain. If any traces of oil remain, you can repeat the application.
  • Finally, wash your clothes normally.

4. White vinegar

Vinegar is another common product that we use to clean our homes. In addition, many people use it as an alternative to fabric softener, to keep clothes and the washing machine in good condition. In this case, it is also an effective solution for removing oil stains.

How to do it ?

  • Apply white vinegar to the stain until it is completely covered.
  • Leave it on for at least 30 minutes.
  • Then wash the garment as usual.

Note : Always avoid vinegar products with other added ingredients.

5. Alcohol

Finally, if the above products did not work, we can resort to 90 ° alcohol. However, we do not recommend this solution if the clothes are too delicate, as we could damage them.

How to do it ?

  • First, apply only a few drops of alcohol to the oil stain.
  • Leave on for a few minutes and wash by hand or machine as usual.

Now you know of products you have around the house that can help you remove oil stains from your clothes. Keep them close at hand to always keep your clothes in pristine condition.
